Babaloja Of Aswani Market Writes Gov Ambode

The Babaloja of Aswani market in Isolo, Lagos state, Alhaji Taoridi Faronbi, has called on Governor Akinwunmi Ambode to review the ban on the operation of okada riders in Lagos communities.

he Babaloja, also known as Baba Alado, asked the governor to consider the impact on Lagosians who depend on okadas for easy transportation to and from work.

He begged the governor to move the ultimatum already given to the okada riders before ordering security agencies to clamp down on their activities.
The leader made the demand in a letter to the governor dated July 13th, titled “l Appeal for Review of Restriction on Commercial Motorcycle Operation”.
Baba Alado in his letter to the governor said:“I write to passionately appeal to you to review and reconsider your restriction or ban on okada operation in most parts of Lagos State”
He continued:“the ban is adding to the hardship of the commuters in the state. The traffic situation in the state requires the presence of commercials motorcycles.
“ It is very important that you consider the millions of youths, who would be affected by the restriction and ban on okada operation in most parts of the state.”
He added: “The restriction and ban on okada operation is definitely not in fulfillment of the electoral promises of our great party to the people of the state .”
Meanwhile, the Lagos state chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, Tajudeen Agbede, has appealed to the state government to review the embargo placed on motorcycle (Okada) riders on some roads in the metropolis.
He said the state branch has done everything within its capacity to create public awareness, by ensuring Okada riders complied with the directives.
