Oby Ezekwesili, former Minister of Education and co-convener of the Bring Back Our Girls (BBOG) movement, has accused the Federal Government of “deliberately corrupting the elections in Osun” by launching the Trader Moni venture in the state three weeks before its scheduled governorship elections.
In a widely publicised event, Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, on September 3, 2018, had launched the programme, which targeted 30,000 traders in Osun.
As indicated by data from the program's Twitter handle, Trader Moni is a "Central Government strengthening plan to help lighten neediness in Nigeria by engaging merchants and craftsmans".
The Federal Government planned N300,000,000 to "enable" brokers in Osun, and the credit is relied upon to be reimbursed inside a half year, after which the merchants can get to higher sums.
In any case, Ezekwesili castigated the planning of the dispatch in Osun, expressing that "such conduct after the fabulous defiling of voters in Ekiti is inexcusable".
SahareReporters had detailed that for merchants to get to the N10,000 advance, they needed to give confirmation of having enlisted to the Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).
